5 Tips on Getting Your Parents Off Your Back
Filed Under Featured
Its CAL-O finals, your mom tells you take the garbage out or she is going unplug your computer. Of course you explain to her how important your match is and that you cannot leave your computer. On a normal basis, your attempts lead to failure. Here are five tips to get your parents off your back.
Do something other than gaming
This may be hard for some of you because sitting on the computer all day is so easy. Unfortunately your parents hate it. It can be as simple as going to the gym. I guarantee if you take a break from your computer, your parents are likely to respect the time that you have on your computer.
Let them know you have a match
Go to your parents prior to the match and explain how important this match is to you. Also, politely ask them to hold off any questions or chores they have for you until after your match is over. In most cases your parents will agree as matches don’t last too long in their view.
Make a schedule
You may have to make a schedule for when you are on the computer so it doesn’t get in the way of your match, but instead just gets in the way of spending time on MySpace or playing in a random Public server. Clear this schedule with your parents, and make sure they believe the schedule is reasonable.
Do your school-work
If your parents won’t let you play video games because your grades are slipping, solve this problem by taking some time out of gaming to focus on your school work. This way you are not throwing your life away - sort of speak. It will get your parents off your back allowing you to spend more time on your computer.
Explain what professional gaming is
Professional gamers make a living playing games. Let your parents know that. They will treat it like a sport, rather than seeing it as a waste of time – accomplishing nothing.
I hope this helps you out. This will not completely solve your problems, I doubt your parents will allow you to spend 100% of your free time on your computer playing video games rather than exercising, cleaning your room, or doing homework. And remember to be patient - the last thing you want to do is scream at your mom, getting grounded in the process.

Great tips, my parents usually never kick me off but probably cause I do stuff outside and play sports. I get the odd “dinner” and “take your clothes up” during a scrim but matches are usually around 8 30 or 9 30 for me so its usually good.
Yea I agree. When my family (including grandparents) were all together I’d talk about how far Gaming has become and what it means to me. I would exaggerate things to help me get my point across like explaining the CPL to them and saying that the winners won $300,000 in the previous tourney. And go onto truth about 3D, coL, and other Pro teams about a regular salary they make.
pop your mac10 out whenever your folks bother you during a match.
