I found a tool on Newegg recently that I thought was pretty cool that calculates the amount of wattage your power supply unit will require in order for your computer to have enough power to run properly.
What you do is you enter everything that you either have in your current computer or that you plan to have in a new computer that you are currently working on putting together. After you enter all of your specifications, you press calculate and it spits out an estimate of how much wattage you will require for you system.
This tool can be found here.
Note from Newegg: The PSU Wattage we recommend only gives you a general idea on what to consider while selecting a power supply. PCI cards, External devices, USB and Firewire devices, Cooling fans and other components may need more power.
