Panasonic Announces Wiimote-proof TV

Panasonic has designed a plasma TV which it believes will withstand the force of a fiercely thrown Wii-mote
The Television’s display surface can absorb a hit packing up to four Joules of kinetic energy. This is thanks to a special transparent coating applied to the screen. For those who don’t know much about physics, a Joule is the energy expended by the force of one Newton moving one meter.
I guess Panasonic’s designers haven’t been told that Nintendo ships the Wii Remote with a strap to stop it from flying out of your hand and hitting your TV during a heated game of Wii Sports. However, you can’t blame Panasonic’s marketing department for recognizing this unique selling point.
