Communication
Every employer will agree that one of the keys to success in any business atmosphere is communication. For people to work well together, they must be able to efficiently communicate problems, in order to find quicker and better solutions. Communication also allows people in a working environment to have better relationships with one-another, but we’ll address that issue later.
Imagine you work in a pizza place. It’s a slow night thus far and you’re taking advantage of it. Sitting back, you close your eyes and start to relax. The phone begins to ring, bringing you out of your slumber. The customer makes an order for twenty pepperoni pizzas for an hour from now. Here’s where communication comes into play.
A bad communicator would hang up the phone, sit back down, and let the cooks handle it, but chances are, they’re not paying one cent of attention to the orders either, especially if they see that it’s for an hour later. What’s this going to do? Well, as you could probably guess, the cooks look at the ticket about fifteen minutes before they have to be made, and run out of time to make them, causing the customer to have to wait for pizza. A good communicator, however, would inform his or her co-workers that a big order is coming up, and would suggest that the pizzas be made in advance.
So how does one learn communication from competitive gaming? Imagine you’re playing Counter-Strike: Source on de_dust2. It’s you and a team-mate versus one last remaining terrorist. The terrorist kills you, and begins heading towards the bomb-site that your team-mate is currently protecting. If you tell him, your team-mate will expect the enemy and be able to get an upper-hand on him, killing him in short order. If you fail to communicate, then your team-mate gets no advantage, and indeed could be at a disadvantage if he’s not looking in the direction of the place you died.
Communication is a very important work ethic, and it is one of many that can be learned through the playing of video games. Whether at a pizza place or in de_dust2, communication can make or break you and your team-mates/co-workers.

I think your article would of been better if you broke down good and bad habits, I know alot of player curse when they die and in that 1 second it takes to say “WoooooW” or “Fu*k” a team mate dies because they did not know where to look. I yell at my team mates when they don’t simple say location, gun, direction.
I believe he wrote that article referring to what you get from gaming that will affect your job. You learn communication from gaming which is important in any career.
I think you misinterpreted the paper as, how to improve communication.
Yes, the article is more focused on how gaming can help in your professional life, not so much techniques to improve your communication. There are ways to better communicate in game, and those are learned from tips from professional gamers or through experience. Experience you must obtain for yourself, and I don’t claim to be a professional e-sports player, so I restrict myself to what I do know. Thanks for the comment, though, Conor. It is much appreciated.
